Washington D.C.

Rob and I went to Washington D.C. for the first time on May 14th. Our main reason for going was this Son, Husband, Daddy, and (Rob's) Nephew above...and now a Graduate of George Washington Law School. Levi has worked so hard to be where he is now, everyone is so very proud of everything that he has accomplished in life so far! I'm there that there is a lot more to come from him.

Misc. pictures....First Rob's mom Sally and her sister Jeannie, they were in D.C. too. Middle: Thats me; Rob took this picture while we were at Gettysburg. Last but not least: Levi, Grandma, and Rob...this was actually at Mt. Vernon.

"Mt Vernon"

This is where our first president George Washington lived...did you know that he had never lived in The White House? Well now you know. The picture of the house is actually the back of the house; the front door is on the other side facing the Potomac River. The picture of the river is the veiw from the front door.
The two bottom pictures are of the burial places. The first and the now current location.

"Washington D.C. Metro"
If you have not been there to D.C. before. I would suggest you learn about the Metro. This was so nice to get from place to place and it was pretty fast and not to expensive.

"Our Nations Capital"
There were so many pictures to choose from. We also got to see the Senate Floor, but no pictures allowed.

"Arlington Cemetery"
This is one of the several men that guard The Tomb of the Unknow. These men have to take a very strict oath to become a gaurd for the Tomb of the Unknown. They have to go through special training to do their jobs and learn how many steps to take, how to move their foot when they stop, how to move their gun as they switch directions, and so many other things. This is a two year commitment and once they are done that oath that they take....they can not longer for the rest of their life...drink, swear, or smoke...I'm sure that there is more to their restriction. This was very cool to actually see the changing of the guard and know that I have been there.

"Antietam Battlefield"
This was the bloodiest one day battle in America. There was 23,000 solder's that died there in one day September 17, 1862.
We had Clark for the day while Levi and his wife Bonnie and something to do, so he went with us to Gettysburg and Antietam Battlefield. I don't think that Clark was suppose to play in the water....but he did and had a lot of fun doing it.

"The White House"
Rob and I in front of The White House and the other side is Jeannie, me, Penney, and Bonnie in front of The White House. We did a night tour by bus; at first I wasn't sure about doing the night tour. I would highly recommend this for everyone, unless you have a car and a tour guide to drive you around.

"Jefferson Memorial"
We went here on the bus tour too. FYI you can't get here from the Metro. I loved the colors of the sunset so I had to take a picture.

"Lincoln Memorial"
The best time to see all the memorials is at night. The night and the lights make all the monuments look better.

"Library of Congress"
This wasn't really on my list of places to go, but when I was told about the inside of the building I had to go and see for my self.

We had a great time there is D.C., although it was a lot of family for a week long time. Not a bad thing but it's not completely easy to be everyone for such a long period of time. You could be in that place for 3 years and not see everything. The museums are only open from 10-5 so unless your there for like 3 weeks you won't be able to see all the museums. We also went to the Pentagon and went on a tour...but again no pictures allowed. We saw the memorial from the September 11th crash and that was very moving to see.
Thanks for reading about our trip!
